Shot during the coldest months of 2018, WINTER AND A BIRD TRAP is a contemplative, slow-rythmed portrait of a small valley in the Swiss Alps. Avoiding any focus on some main individuals, the project rather connects its different characters via a subjective material- and esthetic-oriented narrative, tending towards the idea of some whole, symbiotic ecology. It may be a film about how living things - plants, animals, humans - are existing one with another, complementing each other, growing roots in a common specific soil - about how this soil itself is part of the narrative; freezing, melting, sliding down, and destroying, sometimes, things on its way. Staging no-aged traditions coexisting with the drifts of today’s technology - mountain scenery becomes one of the mirror for our contradictory perceptions on the whole concept of landscape to be reflected.
